How we helped:
In Autumn 2023, concerns about the structural integrity of Haygrove School’s main building led to a major disruption in students’ education. The situation sent shockwaves through the modular and MMC industry, as students in Years 7, 8, and 9 had to begin the term with remote learning, while Year 10 was temporarily hosted at Bridgwater and Taunton College. Year 11 students remained on-site but were without access to specialist classrooms, including science labs, during a critical exam year. Determined to bring students back to face-to-face learning as quickly as possible, Quantock Education Trust and Haygrove School turned to Portakabin for a rapid and high-quality solution through the Department for Education.
With a team of nearly 100 people working at the project’s peak, Portakabin mobilised buildings from across its network to create a bespoke design that met the school’s needs. As a high-performing school, Haygrove required specialist, purpose-built learning spaces, and these had to be delivered at speed to replace temporary marquee structures. Despite challenging winter conditions and the complexity of craning operations, careful planning ensured that no time was lost to bad weather, keeping the project on track. Thanks to our expertise and dedication, students were able to return to a high-quality, fully equipped learning environment, ensuring minimal disruption to their education.
